About Little Tommy’s Plumbing

Tom Mahoney (a.k.a. Little Tommy) started his plumber's apprenticeship in 1989 while working for his father, Bart Mahoney, Jr. Tom learned the trade from the bottom up. Following Bart's passing in 1991, Tom continued to work in the field until 1996. At this time, Tom took hold of the management reins of the service and repair division. Later, he oversaw the development of the company's HVAC division.

During those years, Tom never lost sight of his internal desire to have a company of his own. He and his wife, Kristin, and their two children, Samantha and Ryan, saw a vision of Little Tommy's Plumbing Shop becoming a reality.

Since the beginning, Little Tommy’s Plumbing has been focused on providing courteous, attentive plumbing services while building and developing lasting client relationships. Our plumbers in Highland Park are eager to help you with any plumbing problem you have encountered. We are based in Highland Park and serve customers in Deerfield, North Shore, Winnetka, Glencoe, Lake Forest, Northbrook, Wilmette, and throughout Lake County.

Little Tommy's Plumbing Shop is an odd name. We admit it. But, the story behind the name is what I would like to share. Growing up in Highwood, one of my favorite things to do to pass a summer's day was to go around to my neighbors' yards as they tended their gardens, grape vines, and fruit trees. They would tell me stories of the old country, try to teach me Italian, and always give me a cold glass of Tamarindo (an Italian soft drink.) I still like it to this day!

I am sure I was a huge pest, but they were all nice to me. Over time they started calling me, "Little Tommy Mahoney." To all that know me, this is an oxymoron along the same line of "jumbo shrimp." Sadly, most of these wonderful people are now gone. I hope, in a small way, that the name "Little Tommy's" honors these people who were so kind to me as I was growing up.
